Welcome to the DAAD Information Centre Toronto!

This office is dedicated to serving the needs of students and faculty in Canada. It promotes study and research in Germany, advises local students on funding opportunities, and builds ties between German and Canadian universities.

Our office is open for consultation and advising services on
Mondays from 10 am to noon or by appointment
(to book a session, write daadca@daad.org).

Research in Germany Information Session, Queen's University - Thursday, November 3rd

The DAAD Information Centre will offer a Research in Germany Information Session at Queen's University, Kingston on Thursday, November 3rd from 2:30 to 3:30 pm in Room 302, Gordon Hall.

This session will provide attendees with an overview of the structure and players on the German research landscape as well as details on funding opportunities open to faculty, full-time researchers and postdocs to support their research activities in Germany and / or with German colleagues.

DAAD is pleased to be part of two upcoming German Career Day events on Friday, November 4th in both Montreal and Edmonton

These events will provide attendees a chance to learn more about study opportunities in Germany and DAAD scholarship and grant programs along with details on German language programs offered by area schools and universities.

DAAD Student Information Session at Carleton University - Tuesday, November 15th

Students at Carleton University, Ottawa interested in learning more about DAAD's scholarship and grant opportunities to support study, research and internship activities in Germany are invited to a Student Information Session to be held on Tuesday, November 15th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in MacOdrum LIbrary, Discovery Centre - Multi-Media Lab (4th floor).


DAAD scholarships and grants support students from all fields and at all stages of their studies. Our programs are oriented towards both short-term stays, semesters or full years abroad as well as Research Internships. 


Admission is free.


Interested attendees are asked to RSVP by writing to discovery.centre@carleton.ca and including "RSVP RISE" in the subject heading.

DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service is Germany’s national agency fostering international academic exchange.

DAAD offers a series of scholarship and grant programs which support students interested in pursuing study, research or internship opportunities in Germany. At this session, a representative of the DAAD’s Information Centre Toronto will provide information on the organization’s programs that support students at all stages of their academic career and from all disciplines.

2) Faculty Information Session – Funding Opportunities for Research in Germany: Wednesday, November 16th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, Room 313 Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence

DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service is Germany’s national agency fostering international academic exchange.

This information session, presented by a representative of the DAAD Information Centre Toronto, will provide:

        • an overview of the German research landscape;
        • details on funding opportunities for faculty and postdocs available through DAAD and its German partner organizations to support research activities in Germany or in cooperation with German partners;
        • information on programs to foster closer institutional collaboration in both teaching and research between German universities and their international partners.

With its information tools and outreach initiatives, it reaches out to students, faculty, and professionals in the field of German and European Studies in Canada. This project is partly funded by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD, and headed by the University of Victoria in collaboration with universities across Canada. There are many Canadian universities that offer training in German for a major or minor study.  The Canadian Association of University Teachers of German has a complete list of Canadian universities that offer German language programmes.

The Canada-German Work Study Program / Werkstudentenprogramm facilitates work and study opportunities between the countries.

The Goethe-Institut Toronto is a valuable resource for Canadians who wish to study the German language or learn more about German culture. For residents of  Montréal and Ottawa, you may also wish to consult the Goethe-Institut Montréal and the Goethe-Institut Ottawa.

Over the past 15 years, the Ontario/Baden-Württemberg (OBW) Student Exchange Program has exchanged more than 1500 students between the Canadian province of Ontario and the German province of Baden-Württemberg. Please note that this program is only open to students of Ontario universities!

Where can I study in Germany? What subjects can I study? What are the costs of living in Germany? Ask a DAAD Young Ambassador!

Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students from North America who have recently studied in Germany and are interested in promoting study in Germany at their home universities and colleges. Young Ambassadors help inspire their fellow students to study in Germany by working their universities' study abroad offices, volunteer at study abroad fairs, answering questions from students and organizing their own events on campus.

Find someone who studied where you want to go, who specializes in your field, or who comes from your home state or college—and ask them whatever you ever wanted to know about study or research in Germany!

International Winter University Programme 2017 
December 28, 2016 – January 15, 2017

 What is it all about?

The International Winter University Programme is a short-term program taught in English. Students can choose between two modules:

1)    International Marketing and Sales

This module deals with the growing importance of Marketing Management for the success of a product and the company. Students will learn how to manage complex international marketing concepts.  Different requirements of BtoB and BtoC customer segments, various industries as well as of selling services or products are considered in this module study.

2)    Mechanical Engineering in Modern Power Plants:

This module deals with energy efficiency in modern fossil power plants. The focus will be on modern thermal power generation. Students will be introduced into the major components of steam plants, gas turbine plants and combined cycle arrangements. Thermodynamic influences and calculations are shown as well as the importance of materials development and limitation by production facilities and reliability demands.
